Officers from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and the Portsmouth Police Department were called in to investigate after a woman reported knowing about a series of grisly crimes.
It started when Portsmouth Police and EMS were called to the First Stop Market for a woman who said she needed to get away from someone. She said her husband had people tied up in their cellar and that she had two children, but he’d killed them the night before. She made multiple other odd claims that led officers to believe she was mentally ill.
She refused treatments from medics and became combative when the rescue squad took her to the hospital for treatment and personnel there had to put her in soft restraints. Since the location of the home was out in the county, PPD called in the Sheriff’s Office.
They dispatched units to the hospital, where the woman had already tried to leave the hospital. She repeated the statements about the child murders, but then refused to talk to officers. A deputy headed to the residence and spoke to her husband, who said she’d been suffering from mental health issues. An officer checked the house but saw no sign of anything suspicious.
