Officers Investigate Animal Abuse Complaint on 9th Street
A 9th Street resident contacted officers at 1 pm to report a possible case of animal abuse. The woman reported that a dog was being kept in a yard with no food or water. She said she’d already complained to the Health Department, but no action was taken.
When officers responded to the scene, they noted that there were food and water bowls out, but nothing was in them. They spoke to the owner, who promised to take care of the issue and also said they would build a dog run so the animal could have shelter.
Publisher’s Note: SCDN was contacted about this situation prior to the police report. We contacted one of our outstanding volunteer rescue workers, who checked on the dog. The dog has a longer lead now and more room to run around. He’s going to have a dog house delivered this week.
