Officers Investigate Child Sex Assault Report
Police investigated a report of a sexual assault on a child just after 5:30 am on Friday. A caller reported they’d received a text from an 11-year-old claiming they were being raped by a man with a knife.
Police checked the addresses supplied by the caller, but there were no answers. The child then contacted the caller and asked that they pick them up in a wooded area on Gallia Street. The child did not answer calls to their phone.
Officers were unable to locate the child.
The investigation continues.
Passed Out at the Holiday Inn
Just after 8 pm, officers responded to a call for two people passed out in a vehicle at the Holiday Inn on Second Street.
Officers took two people into custody and arranged for their vehicle to be towed.
Half an hour later, police responded to the River City Adventure Company for a report of a heavily intoxicated woman in a White Cadillac SUV. Officers took the woman into custody and arranged for her vehicle to be towed.
Woman Crashes Into Pole, Leaves the Scene
A driver managed to seriously damage her car by leaving the scene of an accident early Saturday morning.
Police say the woman hit a pole in the area of 6th and Findlay Streets but kept on driving on her right front rim, which made the heavy front end and side damage to the vehicle worse.
Police noted that the vehicle’s tags were expired and that there were open containers of alcohol in the front passenger seat. However, the driver did not appear to be intoxicated. Police issued a citation and impounded the vehicle.
Man Says He Was Drugged, Robbed
A man contacted officers just after noon on Saturday to report that a woman had stolen all of his belongings from his room at the Four Keys Inn.
He said he passed out and believed the woman drugged him and stole his belongings while he was unconscious. However, 20 minutes later, he called back to report that he’d discovered all of his property in the back of his car and no longer wanted to file a report.
