Officers Investigate Two Incidents Involving Dead Cats
Portsmouth Police investigated two incidents involving dead cats over the weekend.
Early Saturday morning, a Mabert Road caller told police someone opened her back gate and left a dead cat on her porch.
She said a neighbor had recently stolen her ring camera, and she had filed a police report. An officer examined the deceased feline and saw no sign of injury. Instead, the officer suspected the animal was sick and had died on the porch.
At 9 pm, officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Dewey Avenue. A man told police his neighbor threatened to shoot him over a cat.
Police spoke to the woman, who told police the man killed her cat. Officers noted that the woman had been drinking and suggested both parties return to their respective homes.
