Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a fight in the stands at the Northwest High School soccer game just before 8:30 pm on Tuesday.
However, when officers arrived, they learned that no physical fight had occurred.
According to a Northwest parent who witnessed the incident, “Grown adults were screaming at children. They were cussing and calling them f—ing f—gs and pu—es. It was awful.”
She then said two adult men began to cuss and scream and the referees, and that’s when the decision was made to clear the visitor stands. Only a few of the Minford fans were actually asked to leave the game.
The mom said the behavior of the parents encouraged their children to behave aggressively on the field and that one Northwest player was injured. She was unhappy that the referee did not throw a card after the incident.
The mom fears the trouble is not over. Based on a situation from last season, she expressed concern that there could be more misbehaving parents at the next game against Wheelersburg.
