1. Overdose in Greenlawn Cemetery
Just before 6 pm, Portsmouth Police Officers and Portsmouth Fire Department Medics responded to a report of an overdose in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Witnesses said the victim was in a blue car parked in the middle of the cemetery. First responders revived the patient with Narcan. Then, officers impounded the vehicle and arranged to have it towed.
Officers investigated another overdose in a blue car the next afternoon, this time in the 2500 block of Robinson. The patient refused medical attention but did agree to speak with a member of the drug response team about treatment.
2. Car Takes Out Pole on Coles Blvd.
Just before midnight a witness reported that a blue van hit a utility pole on Coles Blvd and then fled in the direction of the Scioto Trail. The caller said the pole was split and looked in danger of falling.
Dispatch notified AEP, and officers began to hunt for a vehicle with heavy damage. Around 12:20 am, the driver of the van decided to call in the accident. Officers advised them to return to the scene. Police took information for a report and issued a citation for failure to control a vehicle to the driver.
3. Dog Hit on Scioto Trail
A vehicle hit a husky dog in the 2600 Block of the Scioto Trail just after 1:30 pm.
Witnesses said the dog was lying in the road, and the driver had pulled over into the Super Quik lot.
Officers notified Animal Control, and the dog was taken to a vet clinic.
4. Suspicious Car Fire on Franklin Avenue
A man contacted 911 at 2 am to report someone set his car on fire in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue. He said the fire blaze was mostly out, but the vehicle was still smoldering.
Officers assisted the Portsmouth Fire Department at the scene. The fire department will handle the investigation into the nature of the fire.
