The owner of a stolen dump truck called 911 at 11 p.m. to report she’d spotted her missing vehicle while driving Northbound on the bypass. She said the vehicle was sitting by the side of the road, and a strange man was with it.
The woman said she slowed down to get a look, and the man started running toward her. So, she took off.
She said her son headed out to the scene and had gotten into an altercation with the man. Officers met up with the son at the 7.6 mile marker and discovered the man with the truck had an open warrant for probation violation.
The owners said they didn’t want to file charges; they just wanted the truck back.

Police took Joey Hunt into custody for receiving stolen property and probation violation.
Hunt spent a year in prison on theft charges back in 2019 and has previously been arrested for grand theft auto and receiving stolen property.
