Parents Desperately Try To Save Addicted Son
A plea from a worried dad saved a drug-addicted man’s life. Portsmouth Ambulance medics contacted officers just after midnight to say they were headed to Royce Street address to check on a man with a drug abuse problem.
The man’s desperate father said he did not want his son to die in a basement. Officers accompanied the medics just in case.
The man was indeed in bad shape. He suffered from multiple medical issues, and medics used Narcan to revive him before transporting him to the hospital.
Officers described the man as horribly emaciated and said living conditions in the basement were austere.
Sciotoville Accident
Just before 2 am, officers responded to a wreck at Pleasant and Harrisonville Avenue. A caller reported the people in the vehicle were intoxicated and one had a knife on his side.
Police said the accident happened when a driver tried to back his SUV down the hill.
Police dropped the people in the vehicle off at a New Boston address and arranged to have the vehicle towed.
Elderly Woman Wonders Off
An elderly woman with dementia wandered away from her Baird Avenue home just after 8 am. Her husband said she was under the impression she had surgery scheduled for that day.
Just after 9 am, she turned up at the registration department at SOMC. The hospital transported her home.
Under the Influence
Just before 11 am, a caller reported a high man dancing in and out of traffic on Gallia while holding a Mountain Dew. Officers caught up with him at Big Lots and contacted an ambulance and the Quick Response treatment team. Police sent the man to treatment in lieu of arrest.
At 12:31 pm, police reported a man staggering around at the intersection of 20th and Grandview. Officers arrested a troubled man for the 10th time in the past year.
At 9 am, a caller reported a man in a silver car not breathing in the parking lot of SOMC. He refused medical treatment.
Funny Money
Just after 11 pm, an employee of Rally’s reported two women attempted to pay for their food with a counterfeit $50 bill. They did not get their order. An officer impounded the fake bill.
At 4 am, two people tried to buy items with a fake bill at Speedway. They agreed to pay with genuine money and the manager held the fake bill for an officer to pick up.
