A man found himself in double trouble for OVI and domestic violence after an incident on US 23 just before 11 pm, and it’s not the first time he’s been in trouble for either DUI or a violent assault. In fact, he’s currently on parole for a prison sentence for abduction, multiple incidents of violating a protection order, and attempted felonious assault. Here’s what landed him behind bars this time.
It all started when an off duty 911 dispatcher was nearly hit by a red Mustang that was “all over the road” heading north out of the city limits. A Sheriff’s Deputy along with an OSP Trooper headed to the area of Glockner Honda/Toyota where the car had come to a stop near a billboard.
OSP called in requesting a squad for a woman with a laceration to her head. They said a male driver had refused to take a sobriety test and took off on foot.
The squad came from Rosemount and attended to her injuries. She did not require transport to SOMC. Instead, she stayed behind to arrange and pay for a tow truck to get the Mustang because the right wheel had come off. To add insult to injury, the vehicle was registered to her.
Deputies helped look for the guy, but a trooper eventually caught Jeffery Stamper and took him into custody on charges of OVI and domestic violence.
The 38-year-old is currently on parole, and his arrest record includes DUI, violating protection orders, assault, criminal trespass, and multiple incidents of probation violation.
