A quick-thinking PPD officer saved the life of a driver discovered passed out at the wheel on Mabert Road.
It started around 4 p.m. when police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle with a man passed out inside. Officers took the man into custody and sent for a tow truck.
The man began to exhibit overdose symptoms in the back of the patrol car, and Portsmouth Fire Department medics administered a dose of naloxone to wake him up.
Officers said they would forward the information to the prosecutor for a possible indictment.
