Police Chase Ends In Wreck – Man Busted for 28th Time

A man with a long history of arrests found himself in a familiar place – the Scioto County Jail – after he failed to pull over for officers early Friday morning.

Just before 4 am, officers spotted a man with an open warrant heading south on Campbell. He failed to pull over and then began a super-slow police chase heading east on 8th Street and then south on Brown. The man eventually wrecked his vehicle on 7th Street.

An ambulance transported him to SOMC to be checked out and police impounded his vehicle. Officers arrested 49-year-old Harold Newman for driving with a suspended license and failing to comply with a police officer. This was Newman’s 28th arrest.

Previous charges include domestic violence, driving under suspension, DUI, burglary, kidnapping, probation violation, vandalism, violating a protection order, criminal damaging, assault, drug possession, and not wearing a seatbelt.
