Masked Men Spotted At Bank

Police immediately headed to the scene but didn’t see any sign of trouble. They reported that all doors and windows appeared secure.
Grinches Destroy Christmas Decorations
Someone lacking holiday spirit cut open an inflatable snowman on Vinton Avenue. Sadly, the homeowner said this was the second time it had happened.
He suspects kids are behind the damage but did not witness the act.
Mad at Mom
An angry son crawled through his mom’s window just after 10 pm. She told police she’d returned his belongings to him after telling him to leave, but he felt she hadn’t given him everything.
He later crawled through the window to get more items.
Officers Help Suicidal Man
A worried woman contacted police at 11 pm to report that her former boyfriend sent her a video of himself with a knife to his throat and threatened to kill himself. She said she believed he had multiple knives.
When officers made contact with the man, he admitted that he was suicidal and said that if he were braver, he’d already be dead.
First responders transported the man to SOMC for treatment.
Jackson Police Won’t Look for Stolen Car
A man flagged down Portsmouth officers after another area police department refused to assist him. Just before midnight, he waved officers down at the Speedway on Gallia.
He explained that he’d given a Jackson County woman permission to use his vehicle earlier and now she refused to return it. She’d also blocked his phone number.
The man said he called the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office but they said they would not take a report because it would be too hard to charge someone with the crime.
PPD contacted Jackson County officers, who said they had not entered the vehicle as stolen. Officers advised the man to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Disturbing the Peace
At 12:21 am, a Jackson Street caller reported a loud disturbance with several people screaming in the area.
Officers took two individuals into custody.
