The Portsmouth Police Officer charged with OVI after a crash that left him injured earlier in the summer is due in Portsmouth Municipal Court for a pretrial hearing this Friday at 10 am.
John Christopher Dixon won’t appear in front of Portsmouth Municipal Court Judge Russel Kegley, who asked to be recused from the case, likely due to his professional contact with Dixon. Judge Randy D. Deering will preside over the case. Deering is a judge for Pike County Common Pleas Court.
Portsmouth City Attorney John Hass also requested that a special prosecutor be appointed to avoid any conflict of interest. Officers also issued Dixon a traffic citation for failing to maintain an assured clear distance.
