A disagreement over who should stay with a hospitalized child turned nasty and a woman’s husband and boyfriend couldn’t seem to get along. Suspicious Minds
Monday
- A High Street neighbor reported a squatter sneaking into a condemned house just before 8 am. Officers found an unlocked back door. They cleared the house.
- Just 5 minutes later, a 17th Street caller reported a strange man walking around looking inside his house. The man wore no shirt or shoes. He was gone when police arrived.
Husband and Boyfriend Drama
Monday
When a woman has both a husband and boyfriend, trouble is only to be expected. A man called police to 10th Street just before 10 am to report that his wife’s boyfriend threatened him with a gun.
Police determined there wasn’t an actual threat with a gun.
Long Term Parking
Monday
Officers responded to several cases of vehicles that haven’t been moved for a long time. They marked the tires for a 72-hour warning to be towed away.
- The marked the tires of a gray Camry on High Street that’s been in the same spot for 9 months at 9:16 am.
- At 10:15 am police marked the tires of a black SUV that’s been in the same spot for a year on Summit Street.
- Also on Summit Street at 10:15, police marked a white minivan with grass growing around it.
House Checks
Monday
Officers checked on multiple vacant houses.
The found three homes open on Logan Street. Plus they discovered additional open homes on Mound, Robinson, and 8th Street.
Tuesday
A caller reported a woman passed out in a vacant High Street home just after 2 am. The door to the home was open but officers found no one inside.
Under The Influence
Monday
A woman notified officers at 2:22 pm that she believed her adult son had overdosed. When officers responded to 12th Street, he refused help.
Tuesday
- Just after midnight, a caller reported several alleged meth heads partying on High Street. They were gone when police arrived.
- Just after 10 am, a caller reported two women and a man staggering down Waller Street. They were carrying a puppy. Officers said the woman they spoke with seemed fine. The other two parties were already inside a medical facility.
- A caller reported four people on Robinson Avenue shooting up in a car at 10:30 am. When officers arrived, two men on the scene took off. The two remaining women consented to a police search. Officers found no drugs but advised them of the complaint.
- Just before 11 am officers responded to 11th Street for a report of man tweaking in a dumpster. He was arrested.
- Police answered a call to Daniels Drive at 9:23 pm for a report of an overdose. The man refused treatment.

Missing Car
Monday
A caller reported their vehicle stolen from the Woodbine Apartments just after 2:30 pm. Turned out that the administration of the apartments had the vehicle towed.
Family Feud
Tuesday
A disagreement over who should visit a hospitalized child led to vandalism just after 3 am. Divorced parents disagreed over which one of them should be allowed to visit with a hospitalized child at SOMC.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only one parent could visit at a time. The father was apparently quite angry about this and was escorted out of the hospital.
The mom discovered her tire had been slashed and her bumper damaged when she left the hospital. She blamed the father. Police took a report.
Hey, That’s My Stuff
Monday
A School employee spotted suspects ripping off property just before 2:30 pm. He followed them to 7th and Lincoln. Police were able to locate the property but not the suspects.
Tuesday
Just after 7 pm, a man who stole a wallet on Monday turned up at the Speedway. An officer went to speak to him. He admitted he had the wallet but said it was at his Kentucky apartment. He promised to go get it and bring it to the Portsmouth Police Station.
Officers answered a call to Midpoint Associates on 11th Street just after 8 pm. Two catalytic converters were cut from cars and the trailer was missing. Police took a report.
Living In Fear
A caller concerned for the life of his friend contacted the police at 9:30 pm. He claimed his friend was scared for his life because someone threatened to shoot him.
Officers got a positive photo ID of the suspect and took a report.
