Portsmouth Police Reports: Woman with No Pants at Royal Inn
A pantsless woman caused a disturbance at the Royal Inn and a car trade turns into a car theft. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
- Just before 1:30 am, a caller reported a strange man sleeping in the laundry room of the 16th Street Apartments.
- At 2:15 am, A wots and took them into custody. A man contacted police to report discovering a stick with duct tape on it in the elevator of the Shawnee Apartments. She feared it might be some type of murder weapon and insisted that officers respond to the scene. It turned out to be an umbrella. The officer threw it away.
- A 17th Street caller reported a man lying in a yard at 7:19 am. Police discovered two men, both with warrants, and took them into custody.
- At 10:30 pm, a caller reported a man and a woman underneath a vehicle at Diamond Auto Sales
Hey, That’s My Stuff!
A Grandview Avenue caller reported a stolen bike just after 8 am. The bike was described as pink with flames and pink lettering. It was last seen on the porch at 6 am.
At 8 pm, a 9th Street caller reported 2 fishing poles stolen from his shed. Police took information for a report.
Grand Theft Auto
A Sterling Avenue caller contacted police at 1 pm to report a couple took a vehicle for a test drive a truck and never brought it back.
She said there was approximately $2000 worth of items in the back of the truck. The woman said she’d planned to trade vehicles with the pair but the car they traded to her was now missing.
Refusing to Leave Kroger
Another case of someone refusing to leave Kroger. The store reported a woman around 2:44 pm but she left before police arrived.
Panhandling Problem
- The AT & T Wireless on Gallia contacted police at 4:37 pm to report a man in the parking lot asking for money.
- At 4:49, PPD caught up with two men panhandling in the parking lot of Burger King and advised them to move on.
Under the Influence
- A caller reported two men shooting up and drinking in a vehicle parked on 4th Street just before 5 pm. Officers issued two citations for open containers and took information for a report.
- Just before 9 pm, a caller reported a woman with no pants acting as if she was high at the Royal Inn. Police took her into custody for drunk and disorderly conduct and transported her the jail.
