Officers were called in to referee a dispute over a bicycle just after 9:30 am. The story gets a little complicated.

  • At 9:30 am, a caller complained two boys knocked his son of his bike on Jackson Street and took off in the direction of Royce Street.

  • At 10:12, the father of the victim explained that he came into possession of the bicycle when the parents of the child who took it moved away and left the property behind. When they didn’t come to retrieve it, the landlord asked him if he wanted it. He took the bike and gave it to his son.
  • The other boy took exception and took it back.
  • Police confirmed the story with the landlord. She said the boy’s parent told her they were done moving and she could keep anything left behind.
  • Officers advised everyone involved that the ownership of the bike was a civil issue.
