Feuding neighbors kept Portsmouth Police busy on Sunday. Folks fought over everything from water to a shirt to missing medication. One man allegedly even hit a 14-year-old girl. Kids in Danger?
- A caller requested that officers check a local hotel for a missing teenager. She suspected the teen was there with some other people. Police checked just after 2 am but there was no juvenile in the room.
- Just after 2 am, someone reported 2 little girls walking south on Grant Street.
Under The Influence
At 1:45 am, police got a call from Grant street about an unresponsive man. At 2:19 am, police got another call from the same location. No unit had arrived and the person was still not responding.
The Portsmouth Fire Department arrived at 2:30 am and treated the man for an overdose.
Police said they had been told by the original caller that the man left the residence.
That’s My Shirt!
A woman called for an officer at 7:15 am to report that neighbor was wearing her shirt. The neighbor in question had a civil stalking order against the caller. Police took a report.
I’ll Sue
- Two callers were not happy to find out that their dispute was a civil matter. A guy called just before 11 am to report that his medication was still at his former residence. He wanted the person who lives there to come home and let him in to get it. That person refused.
- His former roommates agreed to let him leave some items at the place but had changed the locks after he moved. He wanted police to track down the former roommate and make him come home to answer the door.
- An officer advised that it was a civil issue. Another man got on the phone and demanded action. He threatened to sue the police if the first man had a seizure.
- Police advised him to call 9-1-1 if the man became ill. He hung up.
Flooding Feud
A caller complained just after 11 am that a neighbor allows water to run all night and it floods her basement. S
She requested that the neighbor turn off the water. The neighbor informed her she didn’t care about her basement and that the flooding was her own fault. Police advised it was a civil matter.
Child Slapped
- A Campbell Avenue man called police just before noon to report that an adult neighbor slapped his 14-year-old daughter in the face.
- The dispute began as a disagreement between kids and then an adult got involved. Police spoke with people on both sides of the dispute. Everyone wanted everyone else arrested.
- There were no independent witnesses. A neighbor may have recorded the video but isn’t sure how to retrieve it.
- Police took a report and made arrangements to get the video. Police warned all parties to avoid each other.
