A good neighbor saved the life of a friend by contacting the police on Sunday. Plus officers responded to two reports of stolen dogs. I’ll break down the highlights of a very busy day in these next 12 slides. If you’d like the full, unfiltered report, it’s time to become a VIP member.  Click here to learn how it works.

Under The Influence

Officer answered a domestic call on Kentland Avenue after too much drinking led to a disturbance between a woman and her husband. Officers gave the woman a chance to leave but she said the argument was mostly yelling. The man damaged a door but the woman said she wasn’t afraid. The pair advised they would sleep it off.

Keep It Down

Police were called to Coles Boulevard for a report of loud noise. The caller said she believed children were home alone. Officers spoke with a 13-year-old who said he was babysitting his sibling while his mother went out to buy food. Police advised him to keep it down.

Hey, That’s My Gun!

Just before 2 am, a woman called police to Highland Avenue. She said her ex-husband took her handgun from their home against her wishes.

She allowed him into the home they formerly shared and she claimed he made off with her Smith & Wesson. The officer couldn’t determine who the weapon belonged to and suggested the former couple try small claims court.

Dumpster Diving

Just before 5 am, police were notified of two people messing around in the back of the Portsmouth Ambulance HR building. Police found a man and woman going through the dumpster. They were advised to move along.

Baby In Danger?

A caller told officers he was flagged down by a woman just after 6 am on Harding Avenue. She told him she’d gotten into a fight with her husband and he’d taken off into the woods drunk with their baby.

An officer checked the wood line near Allard Park for the ban and police issued a BOLO. Police took information for a domestic violence report.

Missing Teen

A worried aunt notified officers at 5:30 am that her nephew was missing from their 17th Street apartment. She had guardianship of the boy.

At 8:30 am, she reported spotting him on Wayne Avenue but he ran into the woods. Police could not find him.

Good Neighbor

A concerned 27th Street neighbor saved the life of a friend. She called officers and asked them to come with her to check on a neighbor she hadn’t seen or heard from in two days.

She had a key but the chain was on the door. An officer forced open the front door and they found a woman lying on the floor after apparently falling.

She was transported to the hospital by the Portsmouth Fire Department. Police say damage to the door is minimal.

Where’s My Money?

At 12:27 pm, a Wayne Avenue caller reported two men threatening two other men claiming they owed them money. One of the men had a gun in his shorts. All parties were gone by the time police arrived.

Get Out Of My House

Just after 3 pm, officers responded to High Street for a report of a B & E. The homeowners said they are trying to repair the property to sell it, but a man keeps showing up and damaging the property.

The officer advised the unwanted guest to stay out of those or face criminal charges. He told the officer he planned to cause more damage to the home and had a right to be there because he received mail there. The officers explained did not constitute residence.

Dog Gone

A caller reported a dog stolen from a Jackson Avenue residence just before 6 pm. Two police cars responded and took a report.

Just after 7 pm, police were called to Charles Street for another report of a stolen dog,

Tense In The Tent

Police answered a call to River Road at 8:30 pm. A woman who lived in a tent by the river reported a man refused to leave her alone.

At 9 pm, the woman’s husband returned to the tent. He said the man in question had fished with their nephews.  The boys’ father left the man in charge of the children. He didn’t have a problem with the guy but since his wife did, he asked him to leave. The man agreed to go and the kids were left in the care of their aunt and uncle.

Welfare Check

Police responded to a request for a Welfare Check at the BP on Gallia Street just 10 pm. They found a man in his truck who was having some emotional issues. An ambulance transported him to SOMC.
