PPD – Knife Thrown At Baby?

On Saturday, Portsmouth Officers dealt with a disturbing report of a baby hit with a knife.  They also had to reassure a business owner who wanted to know just what his right were for protecting his property in case protests got out of hand. Can’t We All Just Get Along?

  • Police were called to 14th Street just before 1 am. A woman said people were at the back door wanting to fight.  The caller reported a physical altercation but did not want to press charges. Police told her to call back if the people return.
  • Police were called to Mabert Road just after 6 pm for a report of a man refusing to leave. He’s been making threats to bust out a woman’s windows. He was gone when police arrived.
  • Just after 8 pm, police were called to the Four Keys Inn. A man claimed he was threatened by a guy with a knife.

Child Hit With Knife?

  • Officers were called to Walnut Street for a report of a man and a woman fighting.
  • The caller said the man threw a knife at the woman and hit the child.
  • When officers arrived, the parents said the argument was verbal. The man agreed to leave the home.

Different Stories

  • At 6:36 pm, police were called to 7th Street for a report of several people beating up a man. A woman said she accepted a ride with a guy she didn’t know.
  • She said the man attempted to grab her breasts. He tried to prevent her from leaving the vehicle. She threw his wallet out the window to distract him.
  • Her son hit him on the head to get him to stop. However, witnesses said that she was the aggressor. Police took a report.

Suspicious Minds

Police were called to the Scioto Trail at 11:23 am for a report of a man in a blue shirt with backpack yelling and acting as if he’s going to jump into traffic.  Ten minutes later, they responded to another call on the same guy. They advised him to behave.

High Times and ODs

  • At 2:46 am, police were called to Kendall Avenue for a report of an OD in a silver car. The man refused treatment. A sober friend took him home.
  • At 6:25 am, police were called to 17th Street for a report of a man slumped over on a porch. He refused medical treatment.
  • Officers were called at 8:18 am for a report of a man passed out in a truck on Oakland Avenue. The rear tag on the truck was reported as stolen. The man was arrested.
  • At 9:14, police were called to Bannon Park for a report of an apparently high man rocking back and forth and talking to himself.
  • Just after 1 pm, police responded to a report of a man who had OD’d on Kinney’s Lane.
  • At 4:55 pm, police were called to Kendall Avenue for a report of an overdose. He refused medical attention.
  • Just after 6 pm, police were called to 14th Street for a report of an overdose. The subject refused medical attention.
  • At 7:18 pm, police were called to Grant Street for a report of an overdose. The man refused transport to SOMC. New Boston served him with a warrant.
  • Police were summoned to Pat’s Café on 2nd Street for a report of an intoxicated woman.
  • At 9:23 pm, officers were called to Gallia Street for a report of a man acting as if he was high in the alley near Taco Bell.

Man Down – Part 2

At 7:46 am, police were called to Biggs House to help a woman move her 400 lb father. He wasn’t injured. But he was unable to move.

Catch and Release

  • Just before 9 am, police were called to the Atomic Employees Credit Union for a report of a man attempting to pass a stolen check.
  • The man had a warrant but the Scioto County Jail refused to take him.
  • He was taken to the police department and then released on his own recognizance.

Where’s My Stuff?

  • Just after 10:30, police were called to Logan Street to a vacant house. Electrical wiring and household fixtures were stolen.
  • Police were called to 3rd Street at 5:36 pm for a report that someone was stealing packages. They took a report.

Bad Behavior

  • At 3:45 pm, officers responded to a report that a man police were looking for was in a Farley Court apartment. Police talked to the man in regards to accusations that he was threatening people with a gun on Friday.  He told police that he does not own any firearms and that he didn’t threaten anyone.
  • At 6:30 pm, officers were called to Wilson Avenue for a report of a kid riding a motorbike at a high rate of speed. They spoke to the kid’s mother. She said she’d make sure the child was supervised and had the proper safety equipment.

 Protest Worries

A 2nd Street business owner called the police to ask what his rights were in regard to protecting his business just before 6 pm.  Officers told him he had the right to protect himself and his family if he feels they are in danger.

However, they advised him that it doesn’t apply to protecting property.

Mowing The Street?

At 9:33 pm, officers responded to a report of a man riding his lawnmower in the middle of the street with no lights on.

Police told him he should ride on the sidewalk.
