A prisoner too hot to go to jail, guys who won’t stop stealing from their mothers, and an assault with a can of Natural Light kept Portsmouth Police Officers busy on Tuesday. We break down the highlights in 10 slides.  If you want the unfiltered version with all the calls and all the details, become a VIP member of SCDN.   Click here to learn how it works.

Kendall Avenue Confidential

  • Just after 1 am, a neighbor called police to report that someone had kicked in the front door of an apartment in the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall Avenue. When officers arrived, the people inside claimed they had permission to come inside to clean. Officers advised them all leave since no one could contact the owner.
  • Officers were called to a Kendall Avenue apartment at 4:30 am for a report of an argument between neighbors.  When the upstairs neighbor complained about the downstairs neighbor being too loud, too late a night. The downstairs neighbor damaged his porch furniture.  Police said they’d attempt to get video from PMHA.
  • A caller reported a shirtless man wandering into the back yard of his apartment. Turns out the guy had a warrant. Police took him into custody.

  • Officers answered a call at the Tim Horton’s just after 11:30 pm. A woman was caught shooting up in the women’s bathroom. She took off on a yellow bicycle. Police caught up with her twenty minutes later and arrested her on an outstanding warrant.
  • Just after 5:30 pm officers responded to a call of someone tweaking in an SUV on 7th Street. Turns out NBPD had a warrant for the guy. He was taken into custody.
  • A Kroger employee found a baggie of white powder just after 8 pm. Police took it into custody to destroy.
  • A woman overdosed at a Vinton Avenue home just after 11 pm. She refused medical treatment.
  • Officers were called to Alexandria Park for a man passed out in a car at 6:41 pm. The car was towed.

  • She reported that another man stopped by her home last night and gave her the keys. The man told her that the son was arrested for theft in News Boston.

Angry Dad?

A woman called police just before 2 pm to report that a neighbor pushed her grown daughter and then fled in a truck.

The victim said the man got out of his truck and shoved her. She thinks it’s because she called CPS on him.

Behave, Kids

A 20th Street man called police at 2:20 pm to complain that neighborhood kids damaged his car. He said they hit it with a basketball and also with a fishing pole and lead sinker. Police advised the kids’ parents to keep them out of the street and get rid of the basketball rim.

Too Hot For Jail

Officer found a man rolling around and screaming in Alexandria Park at 6:30 pm.

Police took him to the Scioto County Jail. However, the jail refused to accept him due to his high temperature. Police think that probably came from his use of narcotics.

Instead, they took him home and issued him a summons.
