Portsmouth, Ohio Police dealt with two incidents of people who didn’t think pants were necessary at a fast food place plus a lot of unwanted visitors on Thursday. We break down the calls in these 9 slides.
Stranger In My House
Just after 1 am, an 8th Street caller reported a strange man in his house. The unknown suspect ran out the door to the alley. The caller said he would call back if the man returned.
- A Harrisonville Avenue caller reported hearing noises outside their home at 4 am. Earlier in the night, they discovered their motion light was unscrewed. Police found no one in the area.
- A caller reported three suspicious people in the 5300 block of Gallia at 5:30 am. One wore a red ski mask. Two suspects left in a red pickup. Officers could not locate the suspects.
- A 24th Street man called police to report his brother attempted to enter his house without permission. Police said it was just a brotherly disagreement. They offered the brother a ride to 7th Street
False Alarm
- An alarm sounded at the First Apostolic Church on Grandview just after 4 am. It turned out to be a false alarm.
- At 6:44 am, a motion alarm went off on Oakland Avenue. SOMC Security called to cancel.
- EMS responded to a medical alert alarm on 29th Street just before 7 am. It turned out to be an accidental activation.
- A motion alarm sounded t the People Bank Main Branch at 6:46 pm. Police said the building looked secure.
Hey, That’s My Stuff!
- A Summit Street caller reported their vehicle was broken into at 9:30 am. Missing from the car was a purse, two keys, a wallet with ID and credit cards, and a bottle of Klonopin.
- An Orizaba Land caller reported a vehicle break-in just before 11 am. Sometime during the night someone broke into a vehicle and took a diaper bag and an iPad.
- The Dollar General on Gallia reported a shoplifter at 6:30 pm. He took off on a bicycle towards the underpass. Police took information for a report.
Time To Go
- Police were called out to help the health department with a homeless woman living on city property on Mabert Road. She refused to leave. Officers gave her a few hours to move out of a concrete alcove.
- A caller reported homeless people living underneath the Sciotoville Overpass just after 12:30 pm. The caller worried they were a threat to neighbors and children.
- Police responded to the BP on Gallia for a report of a man harassing customers in the parking lot. He was on the store’s barred list. Police took him to the Scioto County Jail.
Elder In Danger
Officers assisted Adult Protective Services on a welfare check at the Woodbine apartments. A caller reported three drug addicts passed out in the back bedroom and drug paraphernalia lying around the apartment.
Hold The Pants
- At 1 pm, a caller reported a man with his pants down at the Taco Bell masturbating. Someone confronted him and he fled on foot behind Wendy’s. The man said he his pants simply fell down and he was trying to get them back up.
- Police answered a call to Burger King about a man with no pants just before 2 pm. Officers could not locate him.
Gun In The Sewer
A McConnell Street caller reported a gun inside a sewer just after 1 pm. Police impounded the firearm.
Leave The Hookers Alone
Police responded to a report of a woman banging on the front door of a Gallia Street home. Officers advised the man to stop dealing with known prostitutes … again.
They also advised the known prostitute to stop bugging the man… again.
Under The Influence
Officers responded to an overdose at the Woodbine Apartments just before 9:30 pm. An ambulance transported the man to a hospital. An hour later, the hospital notified police they no longer wanted the man there. An officer transported him to the Scioto County Jail.
