PPD – Pit Bull Gone Crazy

A pit bull went crazy, killing a cat and cornering humans on Monday. That’s just one of the calls that Portsmouth Police Officers dealt with over the past three days. Naked News

Sunday

Just before 1 am on Sunday, a caller reported that a man stripped down on the tracks on Chillicothe Street. He also threw rocks. Officers assisted Portsmouth Ambulance on the call.

Under the Influence

Sunday

Police responded to a report of a man lying on the ground on US 52 at 9:30 am. They impounded pills, syringes, and one knife with a fixed blade.

Monday

  • Officers were called to 12th Street for a report of a man laying unconscious in a yard with his bicycle on top of him at 12:53 am. Turns out he had a warrant out of New Boston. NBPD sent a unit to get him.
  • A caller reported a man in black shorts sitting in the road on Linden Avenue just after 7 am. He refused assistance.
  • Officers responded to Campbell Avenue just before 8 pm for a report of someone overdosing in an abandoned house. The person refused treatment.
  • Just after 9 pm, officers were called to Bloom Street for a report of a 55-year-old man overdosing. He was dead at the scene. The body will be transported to Montgomery County for autopsy.
  • At 9:29 officers were called to Grandview Avenue for a man lying behind some dumpsters. They took him into custody.
  • Ten minutes later, police answered a call for a pan passed out in a Kinneys Lane parking lot. He was alert when officers arrived.

Tuesday

At 7:23 am on Tuesday, a caller reported a woman staggering down Grandview Avenue. She was wrapped in a blanket and appeared to be high. Officers found her sitting at the intersection of 23rd and Grandview. She said she was going to get cigarettes and pop and planned to walk home to Wayne Hills.

Sunday

  • A vehicle hit a bicycle out in front of Portsmouth Ambulance at 11:30 am. Officers notified the folks at PA to out and check him.
  • Just after 1 pm, another bicyclist wrecked on 23rd Street. He injured his head.

Meanwhile at Woodbine Apartments

Sunday

  • Officers were called to the Woodbine Apartments just after 2 pm for a report of a man acting as if he was high. The Fire Department checked him out. He refused transport to the hospital.
  • Police ended up helping a fellow they went out to arrest at the Woodbine Apartments at 4 pm. They were there to serve a warrant but the guy wasn’t doing too well. Police called an ambulance. He was taken to SOMC. Police will serve the warrant later.
  • A caller from the Woodbine Apartments told police that a man in one of the apartments keeps taking her pictures. Police told her it isn’t illegal for him to take her photo.

Daughter In Danger

Sunday

A woman called officers at 4:30 pm and asked that they check on her welfare. She claimed the daughter’s boyfriend had broken her hand and tied a cord around her neck.

The daughter told police she does have marks around her neck. She also told officers her boyfriend doesn’t want to talk to them.

Behave, Kids

Sunday

A mom called officers just after 11 pm to report a neighborhood kid pointing a BB gun at her children. She said the boy is also shooting at objects with his BB gun.

Officers found the BB gun on the sidewalk and impounded it. Police contacted the boy’s probation officers.

Out of Gas

Monday

Officers pushed a stopped car on the U.S. Grand Bridge to safety at 7:30 am. The driver ran out of gas. She called a cab to go get some gas to bring back.

Meanwhile at Speedway

Monday

Two men were on the Speedway lot just before 9 am bumming money. They were gone when officers arrived.

Tuesday

Two men matching the description of the Speedway panhandlers turned up at Aldi on Tuesday at 11:30 am. Again, they bothered customers for money. And again, they were gone when police arrived.

Where You Don’t Belong

Monday

  • At 9 am officers were called out to a report of a fight between two people who lived in an abandoned house on High Street. They were gone when police arrived but it was obvious someone was living inside. Police notified the owner and advised him to secure the home.
  • At 11:30 a man came to the Police Department for help with a relative living in his garage. He’d asked her to leave but she won’t go.

Hey, That’s My Stuff!

Monday

  • A man reported that someone stole the Samsung washer/dryer set he was renting to own sometime after June 28. He said someone kicked in the back door. Police took a report.
  • A woman was detained for shoplifting at Kroger just before 2 pm. She was issued a summons to court.
  • Just before 5 pm a caller reported a strange car in the driveway of a vacant Micklethwaite Road home. The man was taking items from the home. He was detained.

Pit Bull Gone Crazy

Officers were called to 17th street for a dog attack. The caller said that a pit bull had “gone crazy.”

The animal killed the caller’s cat and turned aggressive on humans.  The animal would not allow the caller into her home. The dog’s owner was not present at the scene.

The animal was contained inside a fenced yard at the home.  Police forwarded the call to the Health Department.
