On Tuesday, Renee Raison Storey left this life as she drove: much too quickly, with her loving children looking on in horror. Born in Portsmouth in 1960, she graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1978.
Over the years, she wore many hats, though never the sort that might muss her hair. She designed clothing, ran a bridal shop, and was the best waitress who ever served waffles along the Ohio River. She made a home for her children, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and sold homes to the community as a realtor. She fed children as a cafeteria manager at Notre Dame Elementary and fed the community as a nutrition educator with Ohio State. She was who she wanted to be and who those around her needed her to be at every turn.
She was a member of the choir at Saint Mary of the Annunciation church for decades, where she also cantored mass, read scripture, and volunteered at countless church events. She loved her church community and made many dear friends there. She passed her love of music and the Lord down to her children, along with her passion for books and her flair for the dramatic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Ellen Hall, by her husband, Robert Storey, and by an infant daughter, Kyra Nicole Storey. She is survived by three children, Ian Storey, Rosa Storey (Holly), and Hannah Grimm (Eric), by her father, Lowell Raison (Ruth), by six siblings, Sherri Caughfield (Keith), Vickie Salisbury (Teri), Brian Raison (Jill), Martha Smith (Roger), Bill Raison (Jane), and Emma Sharp (Sam), and by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by two grandchildren, James Francis and Mara Lenore Grimm, who brought her endless delight.
There is no adequate way to memorialize such a woman but as it falls to us to try.
