Repeat Offender Arrested for Strangulation & Endangering Children

Anthony Mays

Anthony Mays has a long history of criminal activity that’s landed him in the Scioto County Jail at least 22 times. However, his latest arrest may be the most disturbing crime he’s ever been accused of.

Just after noon, officers were called to 5th Street for a report of people fighting inside a house. An ambulance was also dispatched to the scene.

Officers took Mays into custody, but the 33-year-old did not go easily. According to police, he banged his head so hard against the cage in the squad car that he cut himself. That’s why police told officers at the jail they should get a restraint chair ready to hold him.

Officers took him to the jail and headed to SOMC to interview the victim of the alleged attack. They also contacted Scioto County Children Services to head to the home.

Police booked Mays into the jail on charges of strangulation, domestic violence, and endangering children. However, this was far from his first visit to the jail.

Back in 2019, he was charged with assaulting a police officer and entered a guilty plea of assault. Judge Mark Kuhn sentenced him to 6 months in prison with three years of parole to follow.

That’s far from his only serious offense, previous charges include drug trafficking, criminal trespass, multiple counts of contempt, multiple counts of probation violation, and resisting arrest.
