Repeat Offender Busted For Domestic Violence

Kevin Loop

A domestic call on Coles Boulevard ended with an arrest and court records show it’s not the first time police have dealt with the suspect.

Portsmouth police were called to Coles Boulevard just before 9 p.m. for a reported domestic disturbance. When officers arrived and investigated, they took Kevin Loop into custody.

Loop was arrested on charges of domestic violence and criminal damaging and was booked into the Scioto County Jail. Court records show he has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for January 26.

Police reports and court history indicate this arrest adds to a long list of prior cases involving Loop. In November 2024, he was convicted of criminal trespass and ordered to pay restitution along with a suspended fine.

His record goes back several years. In November 2022, Loop was charged with theft. In June 2021, he faced charges of felonious assault and domestic violence.

In July 2020, Loop was convicted of domestic violence and initially sentenced to probation. That probation was later revoked after he was arrested again on a separate domestic violence charge, resulting in a 180-day jail sentence.

No further details were released about Tuesday night’s incident, but officers documented the call and completed the arrest at the scene.

Domestic violence calls remain some of the most frequent — and most dangerous — situations officers respond to. We’ll be keeping an eye on the court docket as this case moves forward.
