There’s been an arrest in the shooting incident that locked Rock Hill Schools on Tuesday morning.
Just before 8 am, a woman called Lawrence County 9-1-1 to report a man had fired shots at her. The woman, who teaches at Rock Hill Middle School, said she was driving to work but pulled over when she felt ill.
She said a man dressed in camo, wearing a camo hat with netting that covered his face, approached her vehicle and shot at her with a handgun. She managed to drive away, but multiple bullets struck her vehicle.
She drove to Ironton to meet with deputies and detectives. She wasn’t injured, but offices noted one bullet went through the back glass of her vehicle, and another hit the rear fender.
As a precaution, the LCSO asked the school system to be on heightened alert in case this was an attack directed at teachers.
Later in the day, Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless announced that they’d arrested 52-year-old Jerrino Johnson for attempted murder in connection with the incident. Johnson is a former boyfriend of the victim. Lawless said the incident is still under investigation.
