Finding an air ambulance available to respond after a serious accident at Lucasville-Minford Road proved to be a challenge for first responders.
The call for a rollover accident with an ejection came in at 6:35 pm, and dispatch immediately tried to arrange for an air ambulance. The Jefferson Township Fire Department responded to the scene.
Medflight said they would check the weather and call back. They eventually called back saying they couldn’t make the run due to the weather.
Dispatch contacted Air Evac. After checking the weather, they said they would have to refuel first and it would take around half an hour before they could get on the scene.
They suggested that the Jefferson Township Fire Department meet them at the SOMC Helipad.
Additionally, dispatchers also contacted AEP to notify them that a utility pole snapped during the accident.
First Responders eventually set up a landing zone at Valley High School for the air ambulance to land.
The Jefferson County Fire Department cleared the scene by 8:45 pm
