Scioto County Logs 64 Emergency Calls on Memorial Day

Memorial Day in Scioto County saw a flurry of emergency activity, with 64 calls to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) spanning medical emergencies, domestic disputes, suspicious activity, and even a couple of fires. From domestic complaints in Wheelersburg to medical runs all across the county, first responders were on the move around the clock. 🚨 Medical and Fire Emergencies Dominate the Day More than 20 medical squad calls were logged on Monday, stretching from Dogwood Ridge Road to Jackson Furnace Road. These included everything from transports to emergency departments to situations where transport wasn’t needed. Locations like Wheelersburg Senior Village, SOMC Premier Health & Recovery, and various private residences saw EMS activity throughout the day. The county also responded to at least two fire-related incidents: A fire call at Meadow Ridge Court in the morning A late-night call on Owensville Road, listed as “under investigation” Additionally, the Washington Township Fire Department and Union Township FD assisted on several medical calls. 🕵️ Crime and Complaints: From Vandalism to Violence Memorial Day wasn’t all parades and barbecues. Deputies responded to: Two domestic violence calls: one on Gallia Pike resulted in a report, while another on US Hwy 23 led to an arrest. Vandalism at a property on Downtown Hayport Road, with another incident reported at Splash N Go. A report of assault on State Route 73 Threats or harassment cases, including one involving the Scioto County Jail A late-night fight on Green Street, though officers were unable to locate those involved There were also juvenile complaints, runaway reports, and several calls categorized under investigate complaint, neighbor complaints, and animal issues. 🚗 Road Hazards and Alarms Keep Officers Busy While not criminal, numerous alarm drops kept patrol units hopping—many proved to be false or required minimal investigation. Affected sites included businesses and churches across Oakwood Ave, 10th Street, and Schuler Hollow Road. Road-related concerns like traffic offenses and blocked roads also generated calls, especially near Lucasville-Minford Road, State Route 335, and Back Street. Most traffic offenses ended with warnings. 🚓 Transparency Takes a Hit If you’ve noticed our reports are more summary-style and less detailed than in previous years, you’re not imagining things. Earlier in 2025, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office decided to stop providing Scioto County Daily News with detailed call logs, making it harder for us—and the public—to fully understand what’s happening in our community.
