Sex Offender Teacher Found Guilty
A teacher and coach accused of violating a student’s privacy by recording the child changing clothes in his office faces up to three years in prison after a Lawrence County jury found him guilty on two charges.
After a 2-day trial, the jury convicted former teacher and coach Russell “Rusty” Webb of voyeurism and tampering with evidence.
Law enforcement said that back in February, Russell secretly recorded a child changing clothes in his office. When he was caught in the act, he destroyed the recording device. Webb pleaded not guilty to the charges back in June. At that time, his attorney said Webb had taken early retirement from Symmes Valley High School.
Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson said, “The defendant was a long-time schoolteacher and coach in Lawrence County. He was in a trusted position to protect children, and instead, he violated that duty of care.”
Webb will face a judge for sentencing on December 6th. He could spend up to three years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender. Webb is currently in the Lawrence County Jail.
