A Marshall Avenue woman thought she was the victim of a bold act of vandalism when her back windshield mysteriously shattered while she was parked at Sciotoville Community School—but police say the real culprit was none other than Mother Nature herself!
The woman called police around 5 p.m., claiming someone smashed her car window while she was inside the school for an event. She told officers she arrived at 4:15 p.m., parked right in front of the school, and came back out to find her window busted!
SECURITY FOOTAGE REVEALS THE TRUTH!
Police immediately got to work, reviewing security footage from the school’s entrance cameras. What they saw was not a masked vandal or a troublemaker with a baseball bat. Instead, the back windshield shattered all on its own—right after the woman got into the car and shut the door!
BLAME THE COLD!
Police say the likely culprit was extreme cold temperatures, which can weaken glass and cause it to crack or explode unexpectedly—especially if there was prior, unnoticed damage. Translation? Jack Frost is out here breaking windows!
PROTECT YOUR WINDSHIELD FROM THE COLD!
Park in a garage or covered area when possible
Avoid blasting hot air on an icy windshield too quickly
Check for small cracks or chips before winter hits
Use a proper windshield cover instead of pouring hot water on ice
Police closed the case—because, well, you can’t arrest the weather!
