Shirley Ann Wheeler, 88, of Minford, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 19, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Charity Free Will Baptist Church. She was known for her sweet smile, infinite kindness and peaceful presence. Her greatest treasure and joy in her life was her love for her Savior Jesus Christ and her family.
She was born October 8, 1936 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles Dee and Goldie Florence Curtis Ward. Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Leonard C Wheeler, whom she married on September 24, 1952; 4 brothers, Elmo, Thomas, Paul and Truman Ward; 5 sisters, Opal Keaton, Avanel Nichols, Mary Jean Fraley, Joy Seeley and Doris Flowers; 2 sons-in-law, Timothy Porter and Markus “Tim” Lott.
Shirley is survived by 3 sons, Len (Becky) Wheeler, Steven Wheeler and Lee (Jodi) Wheeler of Minford; 4 daughters, Carol Porter, Carolyn Jeanette (Frank) Crabtree, Jan (Mark) Munn and Dianna (John) Reedy of Minford; 1 sister, Sue (Emory) Parker of Manchester. Shirley was lovingly known as “Granny” by 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Zack Stephens and George Vastine officiating. Burial will be at Wheeler (Mault) Family Cemetery in Minford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025 and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
