Shots Reported During CPS Check
CPS workers called the police for help after an incident during a welfare check on Wednesday afternoon.
Caseworkers were at a Portsmouth residence to investigate a report that a custodial grandfather was allowing a child to play with weapons.
There was a history of the grandfather and the child’s mother threatening to shoot up the CPS building in Chicago. When workers knocked on the door, they thought they heard a gunshot inside the home. Workers also noted there was a camera on the front porch.
Caseworkers waited down the street for officers to arrive. Police responded to the scene to assist but did not provide details of what happened in their log, though they did say they took information for a report.
