1. Sinkhole Opens on Harding Avenue
Just before 8 am, officers received multiple calls reporting a large sinkhole had opened up on Harding Avenue and was rapidly filling with water.
Officers notified City Service and the City Waterworks.
Officers learned it was more than just a sinkhole. It appeared that the side of the hill was sliding down as well. City Waterworks responded to the scene to work on the issue.
2. Speeding Truck Crashes on Union Street
A witness contacted officers at 11:30 pm to report they saw a white truck speeding down Offnere. The truck turned onto Jackson, and the caller said they believed they heard it crash.
A second caller contacted police to say that the vehicle had flipped over on Union Street and that two people got out of the vehicle and ran over the levee.
Twenty minutes later, a caller reported that the vehicle had been stolen from a 3rd Street residence. Police arranged for a tow and impounded documents and a cell phone from the vehicle.
3. Passed Out at the Wheel on Kinneys Lane
Witnesses reported a man passed out in a white SUV on Kinneys Lane at 11:48 pm. The caller said the man’s foot was on the brake.
Officers impounded the vehicle and arranged to have it towed. They also issued a citation to the driver for driving under a suspension.
