Around 10:30 Friday evening, Portsmouth Police received a call about a stolen vehicle possibly at the BP station on Gallia Street.
The truck had been reported stolen through the Scioto County Sheriff’s office the previous day.
A number of officers arrived on the scene quickly and blocked the vehicle in. Almost immediately, they detained a suspect.

Surprisingly, the owners of the stolen vehicle followed the truck and alerted the police when it stopped.
The suspect they identified was Larry Meyers.
After some verifications, Meyers was officially taken into custody.
Larry Meyers is no stranger to the jailhouse. He has at least 8 previous arrests. Those include several warrants for unknown offenses out of Delaware County. In Scioto County, Meyers has been charged with charges that include: Falsification, Having Weapons Under Disability, Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments (twice), Probation Violation, and multiple charges of Driving Under Suspension.
Things did not go well after Meyers was put in the police cruiser.
He requested EMS because he was about to have a seizure. As EMS was on the way the officer reported that Meyers was “faking” a seizure in his cruiser. The officer said that he would receive another charge for Obstruction of Justice.
EMS continued to respond to the call and the Sheriff’s Department arrived to speak with the suspect.
EMS workers offered to take Meyers to SOMC for a medical evaluation. He refused additional medical treatment and was officially taken into custody and transported for processing.
But wait, there’s more. Once Meyers got to the station for questioning he then requested another ambulance. He claimed to be experiencing chest pains.
About 20 minutes later, Portsmouth Police advised that Portsmouth Ambulance would now be transporting Meyers to SOMC.
