A woman called 9-1-1 just before 9 pm to say that a strange woman had shown up on the porch of her disabled sister’s home.
The woman said her car broke down and asked to use the phone. The sister replied that she didn’t have a phone and that the woman got very upset.
Additionally, three men were with the girl at the end of her driveway, and she wanted officers to investigate.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they learned the vehicle was parked next door at a neighbor’s house after breaking down. The neighbor allowed them to use the phone, and the woman’s father was coming to jump-start the car.
Officers said there was no sign of anything criminal.
Three hours later, another county resident reported that a strange man was knocking on their front door.
The woman later called back to say it was a boy who’d had a wreck around the corner, and her husband was outside talking with him. The husband managed to get the boy’s car out of the ditch with no significant property damage, and all was well.
