Suspects Held at Gunpoint After Police Chase
Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies offered assistance to Adams County Deputies involved in a police chase with a white Volkswagen just after 11 pm.
The driver was headed down St. Rte. 73 at speeds nearing 70 miles an hour when he turned onto Rarden Creek Road and then back onto St. Rt. 73.
He eventually got out and took off in a field, where officers held him at gunpoint before taking him into custody.
Newborn Injured in Wheelersburg Crash
Just before 2 pm, a caller reported a crash in Wheelersburg and said a newborn baby may have been injured in the crash.
Dispatch sent for an ambulance to check out the child and dispatch contacted Ohio State Patrol to investigate the crash.
Wanted Man Found in Abandoned House
Just after 11:30 am, Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies received a tip that a wanted man was inside an abandoned house on St. Rte. 73.
Officers took 36-year-old David Mays into custody on an assault warrant. This was his 14th time in the Scioto County Jail and his second arrest of 2023.
Previous charges include breaking and entering, probation violation, criminal trespass, felonious assault, witness intimidation, obstructing justice, burglary, criminal damaging, violating a protection order, drug possession, failure to appear, assaulting an officer, driving under suspension, and domestic violence.
Bond was set at $2,000.
