Teen Home Alone Calls for Help as Deputies Stop Break-In

home invasion 1

A frightening situation unfolded in Otway when a teen, home alone, called their parent to say someone was trying to break into the house. The parent immediately alerted 911, and Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies rushed to the scene.

When officers arrived, they found the teen unharmed but understandably shaken and quickly detained Matthew Evans. Evans was charged with making a domestic threat and criminal trespass before being booked into the Scioto County Jail.

Court Action

The case moved quickly through Portsmouth Municipal Court, which issued a domestic violence temporary protection order (TPO) against Evans. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for November 18.

Evans was later released from jail on his own recognizance pending that hearing.
