The Dark Side of Artificial Intelligence: The Exploitation of AI in Sextortion

For about 10 cents, a predator can ruin your child’s life.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come a long way in recent years, with many applications in fields such as healthcare, finance, and transportation. However, as with any technology, there is always a risk of it being used for nefarious purposes.

One such example is the exploitation of AI in the creation of pornography and sextortion. Sextortion is defined as the use of sexual images, videos, or information to extort money or other items from the victim. AI images are commonly used to extort victims for real photos.

AI has enabled the creation of realistic computer-generated images (CGI) and videos, allowing for the production of pornography that is indistinguishable from real human actors. This technology is being used to create deepfake pornographic videos, which feature the faces of real people superimposed onto the bodies of adult actors. This can lead to serious consequences such as non-consensual pornography, revenge porn, and the violation of privacy.

Moreover, the use of AI in pornography raises ethical concerns about the objectification and dehumanization of individuals, particularly women. The ability to create computer-generated images of any person can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and reinforce discrimination. Additionally, the ease of access to AI-generated pornography can lead to addiction, desensitization, and distorted views of human sexuality.

Additionally, AI-generated images can be used as sextortion against young people. Criminals can use these images to threaten and extort money or favors from their victims.

Predators can blackmail any of you by creating fake images using this evil AI technology.

What You Can Do:

As a parent, it is important to educate your children on the dangers of sextortion and the ways in which AI can be used to exploit them. Here are a few suggestions to help your children stay safe:

  • Encourage your children to avoid posting selfies facing the front, as the AI is not advanced enough to generate realistic nude images when the person is at an angle.
  • Remind your children to be cautious of who they share personal information and images with, and never to send explicit material to anyone. This includes provocative non-nude photos.
  • Teach your children about the importance of privacy settings on social media, and encourage them to use them to limit who can see their posts.
  • Encourage your children to come to you if they receive any suspicious or threatening messages, and to report any sextortion attempts to the authorities.
  • Discuss rationality and online safety with your children.

It is important to acknowledge that AI has the potential to be used in many harmful ways, and the exploitation of AI in pornography and sextortion is just one example. We must be vigilant in understanding the implications of this technology and take steps to prevent its abuse. To do this, we must educate ourselves on the dangers of deepfake pornography and sextortion and support laws that address them. A culture that values consent, privacy, and human dignity over objectification needs to be strengthened.
