What started as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a major bust when New Boston Police called in Portsmouth officers for backup—and ended up hauling in a wanted man!
Police had stopped a vehicle full of suspects tied to an active theft investigation, and with multiple people inside, the New Boston officer called for reinforcements.
SURPRISE! A Fugitive in the Car
When Portsmouth Police arrived, they ran the suspects’ names and found that one passenger, Kurtis Wiford, had an open warrant for failure to appear in court.
Wiford had been charged with receiving stolen property back in January and was released on a recognizance bond—but when it came time to show up for his hearing, he was a no-show.
From the Streets to a Cell
Officers slapped on the cuffs and hauled Wiford off to Scioto County Jail, where he now awaits his day in court—March 27, to be exact.
Looks like running from court didn’t work out so well this time!
