Scioto County residents are missing out on a special $300 benefit and Tammy Morton, the head of Jobs and Family Services, wants them to apply now! The deadline for applying is Thursday.
However, many families eligible for the special $300 payment have not applied. This is a one-time payment that you can spend on whatever you need. The cash comes from the COVID-19 Pandemic PRC Special Program.
Surprisingly in these tough times, the office says they haven’t had a huge response. Plus, time’s almost up to apply.

How To Get The Money
The deadline to apply for the funding on Thursday. Call 740-353-2218 and select Option 4 to begin the application process. There are no paper applications. All applications will be processed by phone. Morton said caseworkers will let you know immediately if you’re eligible for the payment.
However, while many folks have found it impossible to get through to the State of Ohio to file for unemployment, Morton says there should be plenty of people available to take your call locally.
“We’ve got dedicated caseworkers waiting to take those calls. We had a huge surge in the beginning with long wait times. That died off fairly quickly. We’re dwindling again. Anyone who may be eligible, and if you’re not sure, go ahead and call. We can let you know immediately after a 10 to 15 minute interview.”
