Trump Parade in Scioto County
On November 1st, 2020, just two days before the presidential election, a car parade starting at the Vinton County Fairgrounds traveled through multiple parts of Scioto County. A very large turnout was expected from the traditionally Republican area of Southern Ohio.
The caravan was scheduled to travel through New Boston and Portsmouth starting at around 2:48 p.m. before heading into Lucasville where the parade would momentarily stop at the fairgrounds to provide participants with a bathroom break, but due to unexpected delays, the parade ended up very far behind this original schedule.
With tensions regarding the presidential election at an all-time high across the nation, and with the state of Ohio truly being in either candidate’s grasp at this point (the polling average is currently tied in Ohio, meaning even a small sway in either candidate’s favor could win them the state), a large show of support for President Trump this close to the election could be very beneficial to him on Election Day.
Participants and viewers of the parade seemed very excited to publicly show their support for the President in many unique ways, including dogs decked out in full Trump gear, Trump billboards pulled on trailers and multiple cardboard cut-outs of the President. There also seemed to be a fairly large turnout, with people from all over Southern Ohio coming out to show their support for the incumbent presidential candidate.
