Just after 10 am, employees at the AT & T Wireless on Gallia reported a homeless woman tweaking in the parking lot.
Witnesses said she kept getting in and out of a parked car, and they were concerned for her safety. Police arranged for medics to transport the woman to the hospital for treatment.
Later in the day at 4 pm, an employee alerted police that the woman had returned. The caller said the woman appeared high and was looking into people’s cars.
By the time police arrived, she had left the scene, but an officer managed to locate her a few minutes later. Officers took her into custody for disorderly conduct. Per the court, she was released on a recognizance bond.
Sleeping Rough in Portsmouth
Officers responded to several reports of individuals catching some winks in the great outdoors.
Just after 7 am, a Kentland Avenue caller reported some either sleeping or passed out in a black vehicle in front of the house.
The man explained that he drank too much at a party the night before and didn’t want to drive. His friend’s mother allowed him to sleep in his car in front of the house.
Forty minutes later, a caller reported a man lying on the Court Street Levee. An officer spoke to the man who explained he was homeless and spending the night there.
