Multiple children were injured in an ATV accident in West Portsmouth.
A call came in at 5:30 p.m. reporting three children involved in an ATV accident on Hygean Run Road. Dispatch contacted the Ohio State Patrol, and an ambulance responded to the scene.
Medics determined that two air ambulances were needed to transport the children. First responders set up a landing zone at the Washington Township Fire Department.
One ambulance was just 9 minutes out, while the other said it would take 30 minutes to respond.
Although the initial call was for three children, only two were listed as transported to the hospital.
One child was flown to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with reported head and shoulder injuries. The status of the other child is unknown.
