A woman caught shoplifting turned out to be just as bad at lying about who she is as she was at stealing. Officers were called to the South Point Walmart at 11 pm for a report of a woman who’d stuffed multiple items, including false eyelashes and makeup, in her purse before walking out of the store.
When officers arrived on the scene, she gave them a name and date of birth but no ID card. When officers asked her how old she was, she didn’t give an answer that matched her fake birth date.
Deputies advised they would soon know who she was because they’d just fingerprint her at the jail. Officers took her to the Lawrence County Jail and booked her under her alias of Ashely Hensley.
However, the next morning a Walmart security officer was able to identify her as Kasey Blevins who’d they busted on previous occasions with thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and banned from the store.
When officers confronted her, she admitted using her sister’s name, date of birth, and Social Security number. They informed her that in addition to the theft charge, she would also face trespassing and identity theft charges.
Walmart Self-Check Bandits Keep Trying
We’ve told you before that Walmart self-checkouts have cameras fitted with AI that’s designed to spot all suspicious behaviors. Despite the long list of arrests for folks caught trying to sneak through the system, people keep trying.
Clifford Jenkins and Tammy Lewis found out the hard way when they tried to skip over multiple items at the checkout at the South Point Walmart. The moment they left the store, loss prevention officers detained them and called for Lawrence County Deputies. Officers took the pair into custody and transported them to the Lawrence County Jail.
