Portsmouth’s overdose problems are nothing new. Attending to OD calls keeps PPD and EMS busy all hours of the night.
Most of the time, overdose victims are not taken into custody, but that wasn’t the case when police responded to a report of a man not breathing after an overdose at the Washington apartments.
An ambulance took the man to the hospital, but it turned out he had an open warrant through the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy followed the ambulance to the hospital and arrested the man after treatment.
