A 27-year-old West Portsmouth man is being held in the Scioto County jail after being accused of the rape of a child.
According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini, a mother contacted the office on Friday saying that her little girl had been sexually assaulted. The Sheriff did not give the child’s age but did say that she was under the age of ten.
A detective met with the child and her mother and the girl was then taken to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe for treatment. A sexual assault evidence kit was collected and the girl was released.
After identifying the suspect as Joseph Dillon Blevins, police determined that he had recently left work and was on his way home. The suspect then called 9-1-1 dispatchers and was told detectives were looking for him. Blevins came into the Sheriff’s office where he was interviewed and subsequently charged with 3 counts of rape.
The West Portsmouth Man is being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $100,000 bond per charge of rape. His total bond, at this time, is $300,000, Blevins will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.
The case is still under investigation and more charges may be presented to a Grand Jury later on.
