Meanwhile on Mabert Road
Just before 9 am, officers responded to a report of people fighting in the 1600 block of Mabert Road. Police took a man into custody and also discovered he had an open warrant for theft charges.
Suspicious Activity
Officers responded to the BP on Gallia Street for a report of a locked semi in the parking lot with the engine running for 3 days. People had knocked on the door but couldn’t get an answer. It turned out the driver was in the hospital with COVID but had to leave the truck running due to the cargo.
Towed Away
Officers decided to tow a vehicle that was sitting on the side of US 52. An officer observed the vehicle with expired tags had been sitting there for a week. Police feared it would be a hazard to both motorists and plow trucks during severe weather. They arranged for a tow.
Alleged Molester Targets Victim on Social Media
A complainant contacted police at 11:24 am to report they were being harassed by a man who molested them as a child.
The man contacted his victim on Facebook. The victim deleted the message and blocked the person. Police advised the victim not to engage with the man in any way and offered advice on how to file a protection order.
Unwanted Tenants
A landlord contacted police at 12:28 pm to report there were people at his Broadway Street property that he did not rent to and who were refusing to leave the property.
One of them left voluntarily but a man was refusing to go. The man left before police arrived.
Crash Closes Grant Bridge
Three crashes in under an hour caused traffic issues in Portsmouth.
At 2:44 pm, a caller reported a hit/skip at Kinneys Lane and the Scioto Trail.
Thirty minutes later another crash happened on Gallia Street that resulted in a vehicle being towed.
At 3:54 pm, a 4-car crash shut down the U.S. Grant Bridge. The Kentucky State Highway Patrol handled that incident.
Wife Goes Missing After Jail Release
A man contacted police to report his wife went missing after being released from jail. He said she was released in the morning and called him to say she had a ride to Garrison but never showed up.
Since she went missing in Lewis County, officers said they’d keep an eye out for her.
