Friends don’t let friends drive drunk, but one man discovered that no good deed goes unpunished when he tried to stop an intoxicated pal from getting behind the wheel.
He contacted the Ohio State Patrol just before 1 am to report that he picked up a drunk female friend from a Portsmouth bar, and then things took a strange turn.
She’d parked her car at the Briar Patch, so they stopped so she could get a few things out of it. She then jumped in her car and tried to leave. He called OSP to report it, and they suggested he do his best to stop her. When he tried to prevent her from leaving, she ran over him.
He tried to follow her but couldn’t keep up. He sustained a road rash and bloody lip in the incident. He said his goal was not to get his friend into trouble. He wasn’t even sure if she realized she had hit him.
