Officers responded to a report of guns and drugs on Linden Avenue, and a 34-year-old woman is discovered dead on Mound Street. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
34-year-old Woman Dies on Mound Street
Police responded to Mound Street at 3 pm for a report of an unconscious 34-year-old woman.
Medics declared the woman dead at the scene and called for the coroner. Police took information for a report.
Stolen Scooter Recovered at Kroger Gas
A man contacted police at 3:40 pm to report he had located his stolen scooter at the Kroger Gas station.
The scooter was returned to the owner, and officers took information for a report.
Guns and Drugs on Linden Avenue
Just after 4 pm, offices responded to a report of two men pointing guns at each other on Linden Avenue.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a Glock 26 thrown near the passenger side of a vehicle. They also discovered a baggie of what appeared to be heroin. However, one of the suspects advised officers it was fentanyl.
Officers collected DNA, took one man into custody, and arranged to tow the vehicle. They charged the man with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released on his own recognizance.
Meanwhile at Richard Noggins
Just after 7 pm, a caller reported an apparently high man acting strangely at Arby’s on Chillicothe Street. An ambulance transported the man to SOMC. An employee of Richard Noggins contacted police at 9:51 pm to report someone with drugs in the bar. Officers took a man into custody.
Police returned to the bar at 12:30 am for a report of a group of people fighting. Officers detained several people and took one man into custody.
Pit Bull Loose on Harding Avenue
A Harding Avenue caller reported a loose Pit Bull threatening people just before 7:30 pm.
The caller contacted police a few minutes later and said the animal was under control and they would call back if needed.
Under the Influence
Just after 4 am, a man contacted police to report his wife came home drunk and was now yelling at him. Police said the highly intoxicated woman threatened suicide. They arranged for an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
Forty-five minutes later, a different man reported that his girlfriend was intoxicated and tried to stab herself. He got the knife away from her, but he didn’t know if she had another weapon.
The fire department had to force its way into the home. She ran from officers, but they managed to catch up with her. An ambulance transported her to the hospital for treatment
