400lb Man Overdose in Bathtub: Police Reports
Officers had to lend a hand after a 400lb man overdosed in a bathtub and parents called police to handle their misbehaving kids. We’ve got the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
- A caller from the Knights of Columbus on Gallia reported someone broke his vehicle window just after midnight. He was not sure if anything was stolen, but it appeared that someone had rifled through the car.
- Just after 6 pm, police arrested a woman who was walking in the middle of Gallia street in front of Speedway.
Catalytic Converter Thieves
Catalytic converter thieves hit the Knittel Service Center on Lincoln Street for the second night in a row. A witness saw someone crawl out from under a car.
Police found that two areas of the fence were cut but they were unable to tell if any parts were missing from cars.
Lending a Hand
Officers were asked to help a hospital locate the family members of a Portsmouth couple hospitalized at St. Mary’s after a crash.
The pair weren’t doing well and the hospital was unable to contact family members. PPD was able to deliver a message.
Under the Influence
- A Mabert Road caller reported a grocery cart with a bunch of pills in it. Officers arranged for city services to pick it up.
- Just after 1 pm, a man who weighed over 400 lbs overdosed in a bathtub. Officers assisted medics with getting the man into an ambulance and transported him to the hospital.
- At 3:52 pm, a witness reported a man passed out in a white pickup truck near the Dollar Tree. Officers took the man into custody and arranged to tow the vehicle.
Mom Wants Son Arrested
A mom asked police to arrest her son just before noon. She said she had a funeral to attend and wanted him picked up on an open warrant so she wouldn’t have to worry about him breaking into houses while she at the funeral.
Time to Go
- The Dollar General Store on Gallia asked police to help remove a man in a feathered hat who refused to leave the store. Police encouraged him to leave.
- Two unwanted guests at the Royal Inn refused to open their door to check out. Police advised them to leave.
Bad Boys and Girls
- Just before 3 pm, a worried mom met up with police to complain that her 16-year-old son had been very disrespectful lately and left home to go to his girlfriend’s without asking. She didn’t want to file a runaway report but police advised her on the process of having the boy declared unruly.
- At 7:53 pm, a teenager got into a fight with her guardian and took off barefoot from the home. Police took information for a report.
- Just after 1 am, a juvenile left their home on Wilson Avenue without permission. Police took information for a report.
Playing Hooky
A mom called the police to intervene after her autistic son refused to go to school and threatened to throw a brick at his mom.
He would not comply when officers told him to put the brick down. Police eventually transported him to school and advised his mother to speak to the juvenile court.
